Need supplier of black, square headed bolts

I am looking for some black, square head bolts, specifically 1/4 by 2 inches long. McMaster -Carr has them in a plain finish, which would require some type of paint being applied that I would be concerned about chipping off.
The locals don't seem to even know what a non-hex head bolt looks like.
I would appreciate any leads that can be provided in this area and I only need a dozen.
    Thanks,
    Tim

Try fastenal. Not cheap, but they seem to have everything.

You could get the plain ones and use something like this:

to blacken them, or use some gunsmithing blueing to get pretty close.

Or, just carbon blacken them with a candle flame. They'll eventually rust, and then you can dip them in phosphoric acid for a nice black iron phosphide coating.

    Thanks

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, it will take a few steps, but I think I can get the results I am looking for with the plain bolts and the black oxide treatment.

    Check a local farm supply...

    Tim,

Before our local store became a part of a chain, I could get these as loose hardware sold by the pound. May be worth a look if you have something like a TSC in your neck of the woods.
