    Ash Platter critque

I love making these platters. This ash wood came from a tree I harvested a few years ago on the edge of my property. It's somewhere around 18 or 19 inches across. It's turned to about 3/16. I sprayed a polyurethane finish on it with an airbrush. Any comments are welcome.

Another great job! Really like how you went the extra yard to center the grain, makes it really pop, and draw your eye to the center of the plate.

Very nice work Thomas! I like the oriental style you have chosen. The overall size of the platter would make for a great centerpiece. The platter has a beautiful grain pattern and the thin body gives it a delicate look. Again - very nice work!

The piece is a beauty. Great grain pattern and has a delicate look about it.

WOAH wait a minute. A trner with extra money??? Who really turned that platter. A REAL turner doesn't have the extra money to use as scale. That's what the empty can of spray lacquer is for!!

Send platter and money to my address, and I will forgive you.

Excellent job. I really love the way the grain is centered and the way it curves. Very elegant piece.

Ash is a great wood to use, a lot of turners avoid it for some reason, I love the stuff . Great Platter.

Tom, gorgeous piece. Looks like that poly is working for you. Apparently you have the technique for buffing it out properly and getting a dandy finish.

    Thomas,
Beautiful wood and work on this and the other piece. Please try to find a nice seamless background material (flat white, 18% gray, or even flat black for very light pieces) so the photos will do justice to your work.
