    Completed Project/Prototype

Just finished this little stool. It's a prototype for another one that will be double the width.
The double one will have a lot of changes. One is the leg locations will be moved to the corners like the one in my "reducing bow" thread. A little too narrow a stance with this one.
Feel free to tell me what you like or dislike.
Anyone notice the possible big blunder I made?

Cool stool - Nicely finished. Is that Walnut? Why are there dadoes on the sides of the legs where the seat connects in?
Sawdust is some of the best learning material!

Yes, it's walnut. The legs are attached to the seat using the same joint that Sam Maloof uses on his rockers.

Well, I dislike the fact that it's not in my house. Very nice job. I like the design and great joinery. A++

    Very Nice Stool...

If your blunder really bothers you, I'll pay the shipping to send it to my house and you can make the perfect one for yourself.

    LOL

It looks very nice and I really like the design.

Everyone will really enjoy using it.

Brian, wonderful stool.... I am curious how it would look with the handles a lighter colored wood...

How did you shape the handles where they meet the legs? I assume you band sawed it down close, then used a hand grinder to get close to the shape, then sanded?

IMO, this is a good example how impressive even a simple stool can be when its 3D vs. 2 1/2D, like most of us naturally tend to gravitate towards (power tool spoiled)... very nice piece...
