Talking i finished the apple burl! critque?

i finaly finished the apple burl it got really hard once it dried which only took a week
i think i might of dried it to quick though a lot of the little eyes split but it makes it kinda look like red gum or whatever it is
i sanded it took it home and then found tearout on it tried to get my stepdad to sand it but he wouldnt let me touch his lathe so he did it but then would sand all of it out and tried to tell me that it was part of the burl,.... so after that argue ment
i finaly finished it today i resanded the whole thing and took out all of the catches i went from 50,100,150,220,280,600 and then waterloxed it once it fully dries i will try buffing it

    hows the form?

i dont have time to post the pics right now but i will have them up by 2:30

You might want to get you some 400grit sand paper to add to your arsenal. That's a big jump from 280 to 600. Looking forward to your pics

Very nice bowl, the wood is outstanding and the finish looks great. I will be looking for burls next time I'm around any apple trees.

Curtis - this bowl shows a huge jump in your turning skills when compared to when you first started out! Beautiful wood, great looking finish and the form is pleasing as well! Keep doing what you're doing cause you are improving! Very nice work!

It looks great Curtis and you did good without the 400grit. Looks like you are getting the hang of it. Great form and finish and I think you showed off the wood as good as the pros could. Can't wait to see more!!
