Smile Putting a Jet 20" planer into the basement

Hey folks as SWMBO and I were discussing the impending move the question came to light, how in the !#!! are we going to get that 700 pound planer down those steps. The X5 table saw will break down far enough to be ok. I am not sure I see how to do that on that big planer. Any thoughts/recommendation or real life doing this would be GREATLY appreciated.

Professional movers do that type of thing frequently. It is a matter of knowing how to do it and having the right equipment. You may find a mover that is willing to move your planer for a reasonable cost.

I agree that having the pros do it is preferable...whatever it costs is minimal relative to what it would cost if you get hurt or do major damage to the new home. And it lets you worry about other things associated with the move. Should I ever move again, I'll gladly pay the movers just as I did the last time!
