    1st 18th cent. reproduction pic

    Hi all,
Here is my first 18th century reproduction. A corner chair, done in mahogony with a slip seat. It was a very rewarding project, lots of new techniques. This is the chair I posted about a while back with the red dye problems. Anyway, the end result was quite nice, according to my wife at least. Mostly a hand tool project, except the legs, which were done on the lathe.
    Comments welcome, thanks for looking.

That looks terrific, Eric. There's a lot of complex work in one of those chairs. Congratulations!

Really nicely done Eric. How about some more pix from different angles and if you could, make them a bit larger.

Did you do the upholstery also?

Thanks Dave. I tried to make the pics larger, but SMC says attachments can't be bigger than 107kb. Is there a way around this?

I'll try to get some more shots soon.

I did the upholstery myself. There is a good episode of the Woodrights Shop online at the pbs site that shows how it was done back in the day with horsehair. I essentially followed their methods, but used that modern horsehair we call foam.

Hi Eric, It's often best to run the pix through a free photo editing program ( I use irfanview). You can manipulate the photo resolution level for web posting and still retain a decent size such as 480 x 600 which fills most screens. Somewhere in the tech support forum are a number of threds with instructions and suggestions.
