In need of 6x48 sanding belts

My regular supply is on back order with no estimated time given. Who is a good source to buy belts from.

    Thanks!

I get mine from Harbor Freight. They're a very decent belt for the money. I've had no problems with them.

Do you have good luck with Grizzly belts? I read some time ago the Grizzly belts were not of good quality .

    6"x48" $7-$10 ea

I order from McMaster Carr nearly once a week, so if I'm in need something quick I'll add a few belts to an order. Shipping rarely exceeds $10 and arrives the next day for no extra $. Usually either Norton or 3M abrasives. 6"x48" $6-$9 ea

We make a massive order with econabrasives once or twice a year. They have a tremendous array of abrasives and accessories some of which I haven't seen anywhere else. They use a no-name abrasive which doesn't have the durability of "name brands" but is a good value (our abrasives usually get spoiled by wet glue, pitch, plaster or some other material long before the abrasive wears out). 6"x48" any grit $3.50 ea.

Have used only 6x108 edge sander belts and spindle sleeves from Grizzly, they're OK, but neither especially durable nor especially well priced.

If I'm really desperate I'll stop off at Woodcraft or Rockler, though this is probably the most expensive way to buy abrasives.

The current May issue of American Woodworker has a great article on drum sanding that has tips for handling glue and pitch. Mainly control heat buildup and take lighter passes. A good read if you see that issue laying around.

Thanks for the links. Econ looks to be a great value for the home shop. I could add some flap sanders for a good price also. Is the shipping somewhat fast?

I second the Klingspor's vote. Good sandpaper, cheap.

I usually buy all my sandpaper from klingspor and agree that $7-$10 is not cheap! So I looked up the price and really got confused! $7.45 for qty 1-5, $2.50 for qty 6+.

Figure it was a typo so put in qty 10, checkout, and yes, total $25.00. Called them up and yes, prices are correct, i.e., 7.47 and 2.50.

Now that sounds like a deal!!!!!

$8 at Rockler. I just bought some and they were packaged as Delta brand. There is usually some coupon that can be applied as well. Recently $10 off of $30 purchase for example.

I buy most of mine from eBay
I just recieved a few days ago (2) boxes of 10 Capco brand for $19 each box and $15 shipping

Before that I was buying them from a eBay store 10 belts for $39 but these where 3M brand Purple Belts (highest quality) that sell at MSC for $18 each

Thing is you have to look often
Like othres have said there is a eBay seller that I have bough abrasives from called Barkat and all the stuff is USA brand and I have been happy with anything I bought here is her webpage http://barbkat.com/ you can find a link to her eBay store there..
