Does anyone have any information on grey elm?

I was at a lumber yard last friday and was introduced to grey elm. It looks like a wood that something could be made out of. I was wondering if anyone had used it and what the results were, i.e. likes, dislikes, how it takes sands and how it takes stain. I did a search on the forum, but didn't find much info on it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Never worked gray elm, but have worked with red elm. I don't know the differences. Red elm has gorgeous grain structure, but is a bit quirky to work with...it's prone to movement and fuzzes alot during cuts even with sharp premium cutters. To reduce movement, let it acclimate a couple of weeks, mill it oversized and let it acclimate another couple of days then mill again to final size. I hope the gray is as pretty as the red. Actually Scott posted a pic of a side table he'd made of red elm that was a factor in me deciding to buy @ 100BF of red elm awhile ago now.
