    Combining two bitmaps in Photopaint

I have a bitmap of a backhoe and am trying to edit it to place a construction worker in front of the machine. I have traced around the worker and made the background white. Then I saved it as a gif with white = transparent. However I can't figure out how to combine the two bitmaps. When I import the worker into the equipment image, Photopaint seems to ignore the fact that the background is supposed to be transparent. I get a white rectangle around the worker. Maybe there is a better way to combine these two bitmaps. Suggestions of how to approach this would be appreciated.

  2. Start with the Magic Wand Mask Tool. Click in the white area.

If you have an enclosed area that needs to be removed, hold shift and click in the enclosed area.

    Then pick Mask Invert.

    Then Copy

Then Paste on the other picture.
