letter/mail holder for wall - ideas??

Hi All,
My wife would like to get a mail/letter holder to put our mail in. I've seen the typical "V" shaped holder that would mount to the wall, but that looks so ordinary and screams "Hey, here is a wall-mounted mail holder."

I'm just getting into woodworking and have been trying to come up with something unique that I could make for this purpose.

Does anyone have any ideas? I thought about using a door or something from this site: http://www.rpcompany.com/ somehow perhaps.

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

If you do scrollwork, You can do something like this vintage pattern. Probably would need to enlarge it a bit.

Here is a sketch of a combo chalkboard/bulletin board, mail center, and coat hanger built at LOML's request.

Rough dimensions are 2' x 3'. The top left panel is a sheet of steel (for magnets), the right panel is chalboard paint on MDF. Oak for the 3 mail slot "brackets" and the rest is 1/2" MDF.

Of course, you could make it all out of ply and a nice hardwood.
