    Maple NE

This was from the big burl I posted a few weeks ago. As it turns out most the burl was to rotted to use. This will be the only bowl from it. It was only solid on the outside few inches on one side. I did get a few mill, topper and pen blanks out of it. Not much figure just good color. the botton half of the bowl was very punky including the tennon. I really had to take light cuts and shear scrap alot. 11" wide buffed antquie oil.

    thanks for Looking Bob

Bob - you are right - that is some beautiful color! Great job on the form and finish! Sorry you couldn't get more out of the burl!

By George that is a winner Bob. It has nice bark around the edge, and great character in the wood.

Very nice color and form. How did you stop the rotting? In fact, both fungi and rot - whats the best practice to handle these - both to stop the process and avoid breathing the stuff while handling?
    Thx!

to be honest Norm I don't do anything special just turn and finish. I have never had a problem once finished.

I wear a trend airsheid when I turn- keeps the nasties out
