Can someone tell me why the 2 hp Jet 1642 lists for $600 more than the 1 1 1/2 hp version? I've looked at motor sites and the incremental cost is usually less than $100. What am I missing?
Thanks for your help

Determined to master the skew.....patience is a virtue
Doug, I have the 2 hp version and while I am not 100% sure why the huge difference in price - I always figured it was a combination of 220 VAC motor and a different controller. I have never seen a 120 volt version, so I only have the pictures to go on, but those are the only differences that I am aware of.

Just wild guessing:
Someone is willing to pay the premium.
We may have to thank Grizzly. Jet wants to prevent the Grizzly clone to steal their market share.
Competition is good for us, consumers.

Good guess by Gordon (I guess). The prices were much closer a couple years ago. Maybe now priced to compete for shares of different markets. Maybe lots of 1.5's in stock and no 2's. Difficult for us regular folk to know.
