    Colaboration piece........

    .....I turn, my neighbor paints.

This one, #3, is a Box Elder wingy dingy with a wren and vine added. About 8" long, 6-ish wide and 1 1/2 deep. Finish is 2 coats sanding sealer, watercolors, then multiple coats rattle can lacquer.

    Owner to be determined......

    Comments/critiques/wisecracks appreciated.

curtis, Boxelder gets a red fungal infection sometimes. Very nice piece, BTW. It reminds me of some watercolors that my grandmother did decades ago. Thanks for reminding me of her!

Barry - very nice colaboration! Really like the turning - great form and colors! The painting really turns the piece into art! Very nice work!

Everything except the bird, vine, and charred ring around the outside of the bowl is naturally colored. Box Elder is known for its red heartwood (and the beetles..............)

    Very nice.

Was the burnt ring added by you at the lathe or added post turning?

Burnt ring was added on lathe, before power sanding.

I'll be the first with a wisecrack; you spelled collaboration incorrectly.

Nice piece. I used to like the streaked box elder until I experienced how easily the coloration fades in light.
