Mr. Gottlieb,
I would like to extend my personal thanks to you for sending such an
beautiful pen to myself and the rest of my team stationed here at FOB
Apache, in Qalat, Afghanistan. It is a nice feeling knowing that the
American People are behind us in our efforts to bring peace and
democracy to the people of Afghanistan. It is a true pleasure knowing
that people, such as yourself, thank all the Service Members for serving
in the Armed Forces. All of us joined the Armed Forces for one reason
or another, but I can say with a great deal of certainty that the
underlying reason all of us chose to serve is to ensure a free and
peaceful future for our family, friends, and future generations. I
can't thank you enough for your kindness, support, and generosity.
