Some time a while back I saw someone or some place that had half dollar or quarter size discs that said who made the piece & the date. You would inlay them into the piece. Does anyone have an idea where I might get them or something like them.

Jay, post this over in the laser forum. I think some of those guys/gals make them.

I found an ad in the back of one of the woodworking magazines last year and bought some. The ones I got are nice and I have a forstner bit that cuts the proper size "hole." Recently I showed one to the guy who owns a trophy shop and who does a lot of work for us. He said he could make them for me in the future. If you have a trophy shop near by you might start there. Just make sure that you take your forstner bits along so that they can match the diameter you want.
Bruce has a great idea too.

I have a branding iron with my name on it and I also inlay a penny of this years date on it.
I guess I am cheap, some put quarters and not pennies on their things.
I got the branding iron form Rockler and a penny bit also.

Makes wooden nickels with printing of your choice on them.
(they are not the size of an american nickel, they are larger)
