Warning, you might pick up a hint of pride and bragging in this thread, but I will try to keep it to a minimum.
Finally! This is my first true woodworking project and it is finally complete. As you can see in the pics, it is a walnut bed that is finished with BLO and amber shellac. I designed it based on different aspects that my wife liked from store model beds. It is made using M&T on all joints. I also used bed bolts in addition to the M&T on the side rails. One if the reasons that I wanted to make a bed instead of buying one, is that it is really hard to find one in a store that does not wobble, rock, or squeak. I was really happy when I put everything together and couldn't rock this one at all. It is amazing how well you can make furniture compared to the store bought stuff. I am hooked on this hobby. In addition to the gratification of the bed, I made out with a new table saw, planer, and router.
I had never finished anything before (besides basic poly). I learned everything about BLO and shellac from the finishing forum, so thank you to everyone who helped me and my dumb questions. I am already planning the next project.
