Very, very nice. Special, as you have done everything from the beginning. Certainly something to be treasured for generations.

Rick,
That is just outstanding. Probably take me that long for the bed, let alone the rest! I love the panels.
Is there a particular reason you used solid stock as the veneer substrate as opposed to a man-made one (MDF or BB)?
Mark
Simply outstanding. Good work should have no deadlines. Keep enjoying your hobby!

I use the solid substrate because I route with a core bit around the panels which gives a shadow line and the tongue for the groove. MDF or ply would not look as good in this situation. I don't have a problem using MDF or ply as a substrate but just not in this case.
Thanks for the nice comments.

NICE! outstanding set. and worth the wait, i'm sure.
Shoulda looked closer! Missed that little reveal the first time. Guess I was just admiring the overall effect too much. I really like that subtle detail.

Stunning! When I grow up I want to make furniture like that!
Sawdust is some of the best learning material!
Very nice.
Where did you take the wood to get it sliced for veneer? I have some nice Koa I want to get cut in veneer sheets, but am having a difficult time finding a place that has a slicer.
Gorgeous figure though. I like the graduated panel sizes, it is a nice subtle change that gives it some variation in the look.

Beautiful work.

I resaw the veneer on my bandsaw. I saw it to 3/32" and drum sand it to about 1/16". If you don't have a bandsaw I'm sure some woodworker near you has one that might help you out.
P.S. Thanks for noticing the graduated panels. I felt since a king size bed is basically square that the panels needed some graduation to give it less of a square look.

Bravo. Great work.
Exquisite is the first word that come to me. Absolutely exquisite. Figured walnut is one of my favorite woods for any project. You really naild it on the whole room. You gotta hate turning the lights out at night.
