    Chair to Stair

My wife loves really old movies. She was watching "Pride and Prejudice " and pointed out a chair in the beginning of the movie and told me to watch. Very soon Edmond Gwynne grasped the chair and pulled the chair back forward. As he did, the chair unfolded into a four step set of stairs that he climbed to reach a book. I've looked through a lot of antique furniture books and never seen anything like it. Does anyone have any information about such a piece.

    Eric,
Though the style was different, the chair in the movie had arm rests, I am sure it must have worked on the same principal. Thanks for taking the time to reply and post the pictures. Do drawings exist commercially?

    Eric,
I spent a few minutes viewing your past thread and found your referral to the plan source. Thanks again,
