    Music box

This is my first project after moving and getting set up in my new shop. It's a music box for my daughter, the marquetry on top is her name and a fairy she drew. You can't really tell from the picture but the purpleheart that the box is made from is very figured. The top is curly maple, holly and various dyed veneers.

    Thanks for looking.

I suspect some time down the road not only will she cherish it but it will surly bring back warm memories and a happy smile. Congrats on a nice piece that goes to the heart.

    Jay,
The marquetry is outstanding! Did you use the traditional double bevel technique? Scroll saw? I ask because there is alocal gentleman who does incredible work by cutting out a window in the background with a scalpel, then cutting the piece to fit with the scalpel blade using the window as a guide..

Mark, I do it the same way your friend does, it's aptly called the window method.

    Thanks everyone.
