my dad has a 1926 model t "huckster" that was in a wreck a few weeks back driving back from a community parade. most of the wood is damaged, and he wants to know if i can make some new pieces and match the finish.
any ideas?
the grain is very dark and the oak is golden and yellowish - i'm assuming from UV exposure over the past 80 years...
any resources or books on this? I've tried searching for antique car restoration to no avail.

Matching is always a problem, but not impossible. From the posted pictures I'd say this wood has been refinished before making the task a bit easier.
He will have to make test boards of the proposed finish. I'd start by dying the wood to adjust the over all tone, seal that dye and then use a pigmented stain to get the same look for the "in the pores" graining.
