    Transtint Dye--1st Time

    I used it with alcohol adding more dye to reach the very dark walnut shade that I wanted. It sure is easy to work with and cleanup the alcohol based dye. I like it a lot better than using oil stain. Didn't raise the grain either. I'll probably finish with Deft.

    Just be careful with alcohol soluble dye in that it dries so quickly that overlapping can be a problem unless you are spraying it. YOu cannot "work it" like you can a water soluble dye. Nature of the beast...

    Thanks Jim, I would have never thought of that. Fortunately this is a small project that I can get the dye on before it dries. It's a remote control caddy that I saw in Wood Mag. I'm staining and finishing the individual parts before glue up.
