Aladdin's Lamp or Chinese Vase? Comments welcome, as always!

I finished this project over the weekend. It's one of those 'dynamically redesigned' pieces, though - it started life as a sort of Spalted Maple hollow form, but through a series of glue blocks that let go, I had to add some well glued pieces which became the foot and top, both of Paduak. The finial was an afterthought, one which I think add a nice touch. I'm not very good with finials, as I've only made a couple. Finish is Teak oil so far, and will possibly wipe some Poly on after the oil cures. Hopefully, getting better all the time. Thanks for any comments. Mike

Mike - whatever style you want to call it - it is a nice looking vase! Love the spalted wood - great patterns! The color of the Paduak seems to match some of the spalted maple - that's cool! Glad to see you figured out a way to modify the form and keep turning. I would say the end results were well worth the effort!
