    This One's For You, Dad

My 92 year old dad recently moved into an assisted living center. It's an old hotel that's been set up for the elderly. When we moved him out of his appartment, my 3 sisters and I went over and went through all of his stuff, and he decided what went along, what went to the Salvation Army, and what we got to take home. He handed me a box with a few small hand tools in it; pliers, wire cutters, etc. There were also 3 hammers in that box. The one pictured is the hammer that he taught me to use when I was a little boy. It has to be 60 years old, or older. That's the original handle, too!

As soon as I saw it, I knew what I wanted to do with it. Some of you may think this is silly, but that's ok. This will be proudly hung in my shop, never to be used again.

    Thanks Dad!

IMHO, that is not silly at all, it's a great conversation piece.

Have you shown it to your dad?

Great idea! What a statement that makes, not only about your dad, but about you as well. There is nothing silly about that!

That's awesome and there a lot of us that wish we could have something that "silly" hanging in our shops.

    Be well,

    Doc

What a great memory. Not at all silly. My Dad is 82 and really beginning to slow down. I only have a couple of things that came out of his shop. A few years ago, he was making minature hobby horses for some of the grandkids. I asked him if he would make one for the mantle in my house. And...there it sits proudly. I won't ever lose it, and will never lose the memory of some good times with Dad. Glad you kept the hammer. There is no silliness in love.
