I have taken on the chore of making some special Freedom Pens for the Chaplains who are working with us to distribute pens to the troops. I made 14 olive wood ones a few weeks ago which Keith is engraving for individual Chaplains. There are approximately 80 Chaplains involved in this effort. So as not to leave any of the Chaplains out I decided to make special pens for all of them. I will be using Flat Top American, Parker double-twist kits for these pens.
Took the first step yesterday afternoon cutting and drilling enough blanks for 76 more pens (48 cherry, 14 pecan & 14 misc exotics). I also glued tubes in 15 of them for turning today. This will be enough for all the Chaplains plus a few spares (just in case).
Today I will glue the rest of the tubes in the blanks and turn a few. Hopefully I can come close to completing all these by the end of next weekend (God willing and the creek don't rise ).
