    No More Clamps

I got some of the factory clamp storage brkts and now have all my clamps where they are easily accessable. But then I decided to count them. Jeez 68 pipe and bar clamps not counting the wooden ones and the drawer full of C -clamps. And, I have no more wall space to hang anymore.

Hand tools are very modern- they are all cordless
NORMAL is just a setting on the washing machine.

Yes but just when you say that, you will find the need for another... go ahead admit it.

Dewey, between the blacksmith shop and my service truck, I can come up with another 8 or 9 pipe clamps and about a dozen C Clamps, not to mention the 2 dozen or so C Clamp Vise Grips.

    never enough clamps...

I got into woodworking after I retired in 2000 and I think the number of clamps I have is greater than the number of woodworking projects I have completed. I think it belongs in the addiction column.

It's axiomatic that you never have enough clamps, or maybe better put you never have enough of the right kind of clamp.

Jeez, Harry, you make us all feel so much better - less guilty - about our own collections!

I am in the process of rebuilding the shop and took some time early on to get the clamps up in unused area (that is, where a cabinet could not be fitted). So mine look very neat now. They used to hang from where ever room could be found.

Decent clamps are very expensive in Australia since they (Besse, Jet and other name brands) are all imported. Even Groz here costs double what you would pay for Besse. Last year I treated myself to a bunch of Besse parallel clamps - what a difference - and this past week I received several UniKlamps, which are a lighter version and perfect for boxes. In all, my clamps now total 53, and I do not plan on getting more for some time (although I may change this comment after I shortly begin a very large cabinet project throughout the house).

These pics were taken at an early stage.

It will never be that tidy again!

    Regards from Perth

    Derek

Is it possible to have too many clamps?

I thought it was kind of like rope. I start getting worried when I get low on rope. Just bought 300 feet of 5/8 manila and am thinking, "should've gotten more.

Mostly use 1/2 inch for tying loads on my truck.

Made a few monkey's fists for a neighbors dog and now he won't leave me alone. Must think I am the doggy santa claus.

I have a ways to go, I think I only have 10 clamps. I buy based on each project, and so far most of mine have been fairly small.

The winter 'build a bench' planned project will change that in a hurry.

I said "no more clamps" numerous times and it never happened.
Mine seem to multiple by themselves.

Harry if you get a spare day, come on down and finish my clamps racks for me.
We may have to add a couple of interior walls first though, due to no more wall space.

Harry - That's a pretty nifty hanging system - where'd you get the brackets (and will they work for Besseys?).

David, I got the pipe racks from Peach tree WWing, and the F clamp rack from Rockler.

Have no idea about the Bessey's, I have never seen one up close, they are outa my price range.

I only bought the Irwin quick grips cause they were on sale. 6 inch 2/$9.99 and 12 inch/$9.99 ea.
