    Shop-made Burnisher

Rather than spending good lumber money on a burnisher, I decided to make one.
A friend helped me (he also got a burnisher out of the work). Plus, he had a lathe.
The handle is an old cue stick (maple and walnut), turned down on the lathe.
The rod is a new push rod from a small-block Chevy!!! (yankee engineering)
I had a package of 16 new-in-th-box push rods that I never used on a rebuild. Talk about HARD metal!!!
I figured if a pushrod could survive the rpms of a Chevey small block, it had to be hard enough for a burnisher!
The ferule is a piece cut from an old 20 guage shotgun barrel.
The finish is two coats of Tru Oil.

Very kewel. You might consider making up a bunch of these since you have "inventory" of the push rods...I suspect you could find a bunch of Neanders and semi-Neanders that would pay good money for such a nice tool.

I use an old 1/2" drive rachet handle my grandfather gave me. I think tool steel works just fine for a burnisher although it is nowhere near as nice as those you made...very nice!
    Wood: a fickle medium....

Did you know SMC is user supported? Please help.
