Maine cabin kitchen cabinets finally completed

    Hi fellow forum members,
My wife and I have been trying to complete the kitchen in our camp in the rural Maine woods for the past 5 years. All the wood in this project and the completed camp (with the exception of the case); cherry and spalted maple were harvested and milled by us from trees on our land. Well, we finally completed the project and thought that we would share the results of our labors with other members.
    Regards and best wishes,

Those turned out great...and being made from lumber you created makes it a very special project, indeed!

the center section are much to light in color. Also they are flat. THey should be raised panels.

Rick - Very nice job and looks good in the camp setting!

Mark, Those are certainly matters of opinion and not absolutes... I'm sure that Rick and others appreciate your input... from looking at your profile and other posts, I see that you are new to the creek! Welcome to the creek....

    Rick,

Great looking cabinets. I would also like to see some pictures of your camp and camp area.

Nice work, looks great and fantastic that the wood came from your own property.

I love the contrast of the light coloured sections of the panels. The simplicity of the flat panels go well with the cabin motif. Great job! I too would like to see the setting of the cabin.

    Camp pictures

Thanks to all for your kind comments. I have enclosed a set of pictures of the camp and surroundings because so many of you expressed interest in seeing the complete project. The material is all hemlock cut from our land and milled on a old 1930 radial sawmill. This entire project was completed by our family. Thanks for the interest.

    Hi Rick,
Nice job, harvesting your own timber is indeed hard work in and of itself... not too mention turning timber into lumber into furniture. I think that came out right...?
Thanks for taking the time to put up the pics of the Camp. Being a good ol'Vermonter seeing the snow on the metal roof and the pic of the lake makes me homesick.......

Rick, that is gorgeous!! Beautiful surroundings, view, and wonderful character in the cabin. Timberframed homes have a warmth and ambience that just can't be duplicated any other way. Log homes are nice, but there just is something about the joinery, the effort and the art that goes into a frame.

That has to be a relaxing environment to "get away" to. And, to have completed this with you own labor and harvested materials is icing on the cake.

How much land do you have with the cabin and is it as secluded as it looks?

Finally, in the tradition of comradery, and given the loyalty that you have to fellow creekers, I would like to go ahead and reserve two weeks in October next year for our vacation. That is OK, isn't it?
