    New Project need help

I am going to build a piece of furniture to hold a fairly large flatscreen and I think this will do the trick.

The question is concerning wood selection. I am leaning toward red oak due to it's affordability and low risk because it.

I do however have a lot of options and plan to buy rough sawn and plane it.

The grade is 1F & Btr, and I can get just plain oak, quarter sawn and curly. Any suggestions for the appearance of the piece. Perhaps curly for the top, QS for the sides and front, and just plain for the rest?
