    band saw recomendations

I am looking at the grizzly go555 ultimate 14
    http://www.grizzly.com/products/item...emNumber=G0555
    and the grizzly go513 17"
    http://www.grizzly.com/products/item...emNumber=G0513

I would like to be able to do some resawing so the ultimate 14 would need the riser block I guess my main question is the 17 inch go513 worth the extra price. Or if anyone has any other models in this price range they like.

    Jason,
Terry Hatfield, an SMC member, has a write-up on the Grizz 17" on his website. It is worth the read.

Of the two you cite, no question, the G0513 is the one to buy. It's a significantly better machine than the other one, especially if you plan on any resawing. The Euro design is generally stiffer, too, which helps with properly tension ing blades. Definitely worth the extra investment over the smaller machine. IMHO, of course.

I have the G0513. I was also looking at the 0555, and decided on the 17". Bigger motor, bigger table, heavier (always better in my book). I also prefer the tensioning mechanism on the 0513 over the 0555 (look in the manuals online if you cannot see in person). It is a very good saw, good dust collection, well laid out controls, and motor is strong enough to resaw anything I have put through it. Which ever saw you get, order the appropriate timber wolf blades and you will be happier than with the stock blade.
