I have an article in the Highland Woodworking "Wood News". It's on how to make a small brass hammer - which I had posted here earlier.

PS I get a $100 gift certificate. What I wanted to buy is a PC 390 sander but Highland doesn't carry the PC line. What do you think of the Festool ETS125EQ? It has a brake also. But can you use regular 8 hole sandpaper on the Festool? Or do you have to buy special Festool sandpaper?

Mike congrats on the publishing! Good article.
You want the right abrasives for the Festool sander. That middle hole is very important for the outstanding dust collection you get as well as abrasive life. If you have "inventory", make a punch to get that middle hole in the paper to see you through. Then, buy the Festool paper. It's quality is excellent and it lasts longer because it stays clean.

I'm probably no gage on Festool as I only have one, the 125 rotex, but it's made sanding enjoyable when I need to do it.The rotary mode is great for hogging off material and the 5" can be held in one hand, kinda, when needed.
I think you need to use their paper, but the stuff I use on the rotex is not that much, the cost is close to others.
The 125 EQ is a different beast, but used by many woodworkers.

Agree with Jim on the Festool...be sure to punch a hole in the sandpaper OR use Festool paper. The center hole actually pushes air out so that it captures dust that is then captured by the perimeter holes, which pull air in.

As for the festool 125-- it is a great little sander. Great balance and dust control.

Congrats Mike. I am ordering from Online Metals today for the goods to build one myself. They should also throw you a gift certificate as I'm sure that I'm not the only one ordering fron them because of the article!
