    Wink Polyeurothane for wood floors

I have a quick question on finishing a wood floor. Is there a difference between the Polyeurothane used for finishing wood projects and poly used for wood floors. If I use Minwax poly for floors will it survive foot traffic ? or should I use the one specially for floors.

There is likely a difference between consumer oriented finishes sold in the big-boxes and those used by most flooring companies, IMHO.

The difference is bigger depending on where you live. There are different formulations based on state laws.

My flooring guy said that the urethane for floors handles expansion and contraction of the wide surfaces better and is tougher so it doesn't scratch quite as easily as the harder varnish you would likely prefer for furniture.

Because of state law here, you can no longer purchase it in five gallon, or even one gallon containers -- so he has to purchase it by the quart!
