    Charlotte, NC lumber

    Hey Guys,
I am just returning to woodworking after being on the road for 3 yrs. My hardwood lumber company has since closed and wonder if any of you can provide sources near Charlotte? thx

The Wurth Group (former Charlotte Hardwood Center) is on Golf Acres Drive just off Wilkinson Blvd. in Charlotte is probably the largest supplier in the area. They carry domestic and imported hardwoods, and a large selection of plywood.

In Concord, Klutz Lumber, near the hospital, carries the more common American hardwoods like oak, poplar, soft maple, etc. but only in 3/4 f3s.

Well, it's not exactly around the corner, but if you're looking for a fair amount of lumber, Steve Wall in Mayodan is the place to go. Usually nice stuff (depends on the species - call Steve ahead of time), and rock-bottom prices:

I've had wood shipped by Steve wall, he runs a top notch outfit, great prices and service. If there is anyway you can get there, he would be a great choice.

Unfortunately, Kyle Edwards is not in business anymore (i have bought from him). Charlotte Hardwood (aka. Wurth) is mostly a sheet goods supplier. H & W looks interesting..

I buy 99% of my lumber from either Groff and Groff or Hearne in Pa..

Thanks for sharing that site. I might have to make a couple of orders from him since the shipping down my way isn't to high. Especially since I'm not having a lot of luck finding a local hardwood supplier

Can't go wrong with Steve Wall's stuff. Top notch! I've picked up and had UPS deliver...all great stuff! He even delivered some stuff himself for my father in law to the job site!!! (It did help is daughter is only 20 miles away and he stopped by on a visit to her.)

I'm in Atlanta with good local sources but... have driven to Wall's on several occasions in the past few years. A class act himself.. fair prices and has excellent stock.

I have bought maple, poplar, oak and walnut from Charlotte Hardwoods. The Wurth Group has stores in Charlotte, Greenville and Charleston and I've bought from all of them; not recently, but in the last two years. I've found their hardwood to be reasonably priced and of good quality. They also carry and extensive line of sheet goods.

I am not affiliated, but I have sung Steve's praises so many times that I should be on the payroll.
