Darn'it, back to sideways again. Oh well, ya'll get the idea.

Hi Ken, There may have been a few folks who would have a different view of my "calmness" when I was moderating. Quite a few things have changed since I was last participating. Good to see some of...
I took some time off to do some motorcycle riding and backpacking before the snow sets in. Worked all day yesterday and the camper is starting to take shape.

Thanks Jim. Got it!

Inside wall done. The ply is cheap Home Depot sanded-one-side 5mm ply. I saw no need to use more expensive ply for the inside. Besides, I like all the different grain patterns in this cheap stuff....
I've used a VFD for years with my Oliver. Very good solution.

Got the insulation cut out and put in.

Hope to get, at least, one interior side ply done.

I can't really answer your question Dave, but it sure is beautiful!

I've got a 20x20 shop and I'm not sure I could function with a table saw. I've got a 10" DeWalt radial arm saw that works in that space. Ripping is going to be the same problem as a table saw, but...
I'm going to use 1/8" ply I get from Home Depot for the inside. It's cheap and looks pretty good. I'm going to use 3mm Okoume marine ply on the outside. I've used it before in boat/kayak builds...
Built the side frames today. Hope to get 1" insulation in next.
Work is going to slow down a bit because my wife fell off her bike and broke her wrist. Spent a couple days in the emergency...
I've got around 1,000 bd. ft. of walnut, cherry and sycamore behind my shop. All done with an Alaska Chainsaw Mill. It's a lot of work for a board, but it's worth it if you like to use a chainsaw....
Hi Mike, Thanks for the welcome. Not a trailer, but a pickup topper. I'll be hauling a 5x10 trailer with my kayak and motorcycle to use on the trip.
Hi all,
It's been quite awhile, years really, since my last post. I'm a long time member whose been doing other things lately. I spent a few years rebuilding my 1948 28' Herreshoff mahogany...

Got to be the Oliver. Use it every day.

I've always liked this Paul Gartside design. Probably a bit more boat than the O'Day, but a pretty straight forward strip build.
...
Not a boat builder, nor an expert, but I just finished a year long restoration of this Herreshoff H28.

Good stuff!! I've got a "tiny" 30" mill. The most important thing is the chain and how sharp it is.
Can you tell us what chain you're using and how you're grinding it?
Thanks,
John
Is that the saw in the background? Your going to need some serious cc's to move that big bar.

I had a lot of trouble with finding a proper fence for my Oliver. I finally bought a couple of 40mm MagSwitches and they have worked perfectly.
I would remind everyone to stay on topic. The best philosophy is to "not offend" and also, "not be offended."
This has been an informative thread. We'd rather not shut it down. However, if...
I've got the EZ Smart rails set up with a Makita saw. I like the robustness of the system and the ability to use any saw. I've had no alignment problems.
I use it for all kinds of cuts, but I...
Many use 3/8" blades for curves, but I never use more than 1/4", even more so on a 6" piece of material.
Also, I would try more tension than is indicated on the saw.
John is correct about the weight. My two saws, Stihl MS 290 (56cc)and Husqvarna 576XP (73cc), are 13 lb. and 14 lbs. As I get older I find myself looking for a good 40/45cc saw that weighs around 10...
