Hi Breck. I've used the saw drill bits that cut sideways from Packard on my Dremel and they work pretty well when cutting into turned pieces 3/8" thick or less. Any thicker than that and it is a...
Paul, how did you get on the WOW site? I've been unsuccessful in logging in. Thanks.
Nice little ornament as well as display stand Charlie. Did you sand back through the top layer of paint or is that "crackle" coat over milk paint?
I have great respect for the men and women who have served our country. Thank you.
Bill, That door is great! Now it needs a couple of turned mushrooms outside the door for the fairy to sit on!
Kathy, I like both pieces really well! Especially the black piece. Your forms are dead on and I must admit that you're a lot braver than I am. I would have looked at that wormy branch and said...
Greg, Those are great looking steady rests! I have the Nichols rest and love it. Using the rest has helped me become much more comfortable doing larger hollow forms. However..., what I'd really...
Elegantly simple Francesco. I like it!
Your piece looks like two planets floating in the night sky! I'm diggin' it Kathy! Nice work. Man, I've got to retire so I can get to my lathe.....
Hi Kathy. I like the weight of the bowl. It looks like it would feel really good in your hands. Looking at the bottom shot of the bowl, your curve looks spot on! The gesso you used to ebonize is...
I meant "dye"...sheeesch...
If you don't like how the wood has darkened, you could ebonize the piece (I like feibings black leather die) and finish with a high gloss for a very modern looking piece. Just my two cents.
I wear a tight fitting leather glove on my left hand. I like the kind that have the velcro tightening strap at the wrist so theres nothing loose or flapping. I may have to check out the mechanics...
Wow! Thanks gentlemen! Your suggestions have been helpful! I am somewhat emotionally invested in this piece andwill probably try to turn it. That being said, I'm going to tint some epoxy and fill...
Greetings All! When I started turning about 6 years ago, I roughed out several large walnut bowls and hollow forms from a tree we took down on our property. We had a snow day today (HURRAY:D) and I...
What a great find Baxter! I'm realizing that I can't "sling" the wood up there like I used to either! That hoist looks like an affordable way to save my back. What is the name of the monster...
I'll go with 33.
Count me in! I need a stronger dust collector!
Please add my name to the list!
Best wishes Mr Hippy! I agree with John Davey....listen to the physical therapist and do everything they say. My hip replacement recovery went very well because I followed the Dr's orders.
Great looking bowl Baxter. When it is dry how will you reverse chuck it to do the bottom? I outboard turned some large bowls out of black walnut (22" to 26") and am not sure that my vacuum chuck is...
Looks like a great tool. Count me in!
Put my name in the hat as well!
Count me in as well!
