Thanks for the responses. It probably might have helped if I had explained my plan. I currently have a traditional Nicholson bench with a large twin screw vise and holdfasts. I built it when I had...
This is exactly why I came. Thanks for the responses folks. I had initially thought of adding a chamfer to the underside. Not sure I'm liking that idea now considering the size it would have to be....
I cannot find this answer anywhere, hopefully you guys can help. I am planning to build a heavy, overbuilt, Paulk style workbench. I would like to know how thick can the top be and the Festool clamps...
Epoxy and cloth it is then, inside and out. Stand by for many more questions as my build progresses
Walter Baron is the Lumberyard Skiff designer. He runs a shop called Old Wharf Dory
The Lumberyard Skiff plans dont specify finishing but Walter sends his to a fiberglass shop to be coated.
Should I encapsulate with epoxy and cloth or can I get away with only epoxy. My plan was to cloth the outside but only epoxy (no cloth) the inside. Is this wrong?
I've read so many threads from different forums on this topic and there exists a ton of contradictory info. Some people only fair and paint. Others epoxy tape the seams. Others completely saturate in...
Awesome, I had planned to use MDO and this confirms it. How did you finish it out? Did you epoxy and cloth both the inside and out?
Okay, I've ordered the Lumberyard Skiff plans. Things are about to get extremely crowded in my garage
Great advise I really appreciate it. I think I’ve settled on the LYS or the Devlin Candlefish 16.
Are the plans pretty straightforward? As to the design, I’ve seen so many pictures of those things ranging from extremely plain to extremely fancy.
What do guys think of Barons lumberyard skiff? Those plans are much cheaper then the peeler. The boats look pretty similar, and appear to have similar performance.
When you say fully encapsulate do you mean the inside as well?
Thanks for the replies fellas. The Peeler plans are a little pricey but the boat fits my needs almost exactly.
I was wanting to keep the price low but I also would like comprehensive plans given...
I’m in the early planning stages here. My workshop is in my basement but I have room in my garage for a 16’ boat. I’d rather not take on something that large as a first effort. Im thinking a 12’...
I agree these saws are very cool but I already have a nice table saw and I don’t really have use for another. I do have use for money though.
Sorry for the pictures, don’t know what’s going on there.
I picked up an old Craftsman table saw (103.20001). No extension wings and a different motor (Dayton 3/4hp). I had thoughts of restoring the whole thing including buying wings for it and then trying...
What is the benefit of using two dust deputies in that setup?
I love it Rod. That’s the kind of advice I wanted. Let’s talk airflow. If I run a 6” main. Do you think a single 35a Wynn filter would suffice? How do I calculate this?
To keep things cheaper I wonder if I could vent both blowers to a single Wynn filter?
Just to add, no these aren’t Harbor Freight blowers. They are American made
It seems that way to me as well. As I understand it two in series is more powerful but you run a greater risk of motor problems. I don’t see how two in parallel would cause any undo motor wear. They...
I have the opportunity to purchase two 2hp blowers for pretty cheap. Not sure the impeller size, they look to be around 10-12”. My idea is to get a super dust deputy xl and then run a wye at the top...
