Not really. The quirk is worn but the bead is not, so if I set the blade for a fine cut at the bead it will take a huge ragged bite at the quirk. The only things I can think of is to remove the...
Hi All,
I recently purchased a 3/8" side bead plane that is in good shape except the boxing in front of the blade has been worn down from use. It's about 3/32" shorter than the boxing behind the...
Thanks for the kind feedback.
Bill -- I don't believe the blade is tempered. It's not springy at all and if bent it will stay that way. It's stout enough though that you really have to wrench on...
I don't post too often around here, but do a lot of reading and have gained much knowledge from these forums since I started woodworking a few years ago. So thank you!
I like to build one or two...

I found this plane at and antique mall this weekend and brought it home. Wondering if anybody can identify it's age and origin? It is stamped "G.N. DELAP" on the toe and heel. I'm not sure if this...

As an ex-surveyor I must sat that is a fine looking plumb bob! Is the spool spring loaded to reel in the string when the lock ring is disengaged?
Thanks! Looks like I am missing the cutter holding screw. Now to try and find a replacement...
The Stanley #50 holds blades by pinching them from the sides. Mine will only clamp blades down to 1/4" before the mechanism bottoms out, but it came with 3/16" and 1/8" blades. Does anyone know how...
Happy to report that I did receive my order yesterday. Thanks creekers for your advise and here's hoping for a smooth recovery for Mike.
Jared
Yes, my card was charged when I placed the order. The items were listed as in stock and I never got a backorder noice so I wasn't concerned at the time.
However, I'M HAPPY TO SAY, I got an email...
I tried calling again this morning and his voicemail box is full, so I guess I'm not the only one. I'll have to go to my CC company to get my money back. Thanks for your help.
Thank you for the tips. Does anybody know his phone number? I did not make note of it and it is now removed from his website.
Tony -- was your credit card charged when you placed your order or when it shipped? The items I ordered were listed as in stock, so I was not expecting a delay due to fabrication.
Thanks.
Very impressive! My grandfathers plane is one of my most cherished tools. What was your method of rust removal?
I'm looking for some advise or insight. I made an order with wenzloff back on October 3rd. A month passed without a shipping notification, so I called and spoke with Mike and he explained that he had...
Tip of the hat from another Harford County woodworker. I live in Havre de Grace and just got started into hand tool woodworking 6 months ago. Nice to know there are others around. If there are any...
There is no name stamped on them, but there is a stamp of a frame saw and the blade width in millimeters. Can someone identify the maker? Any insights as to if they are good quality?
They are...
