justin- have owned/used Ariens, Simplicity, and Toro over the past 20 ... current and favorite is Bob-Cat. mine is a 54" deck on a FastCat. they're built like tanks and are very fast. i mow ~3...
sounds like the neighbor was trying to rip her off. glad it's gone to a good home. you'll have a blast learning how to use this thing. well done.
they're going on the used mkt for 25-27.5k before you put on the blade. $500 is insane. yowza.
oh man. i helped a neighbor do a rebuild on one of these a few yrs ago, including a convert to 12V. this baby is gonna need some TLC. good luck!
rich - am late to the dance here, but have some relevant experience. i used a Ferguson 35 (gas) and Massey 30 (3 cyl Perkins diesel) in just such a capacity ... also a Super M, Super H, Deere B...
not woodworking, but Mercedes has a multi-story (read: BIG) museum in Stuttgart. if you like autos, it's a must see. not much of interest for the purely musically inclined, tho ...
having done recent relo of ppl into/out of apts, this makes me really nervous. maybe your apt is better built than the avg one, but i wouldn't want several hundred lbs of dead weight sitting on any...
agreed. purchased one earlier this yr to replace a Stihl Farm Boss 038 that went to chainsaw heaven. we have stihl, echo, and husky saws here on the farm. don't see how you could go wrong with any...
uhm, there are quite a few in the greater Hollywood area ... and they seemed to be doing a bang up business last time i looked. :)
is that the one in the Toledo Museum? seems like i saw one that looked an awful lot like that up there ... over the top ornate. 17th century bling? :D
yes with caveat - you need the correct driver. remember that XP has gone dormie. make sure the drive is explicitly plug/play with XP, or that a driver is provided.
JR- can't cut a rabbet. unit here but not mounted. work got in the way. sorry.
Elman- attached pic shows orientation of cutters on the "most outside spirals". good luck figuring this out....
fwiw, i have a byrd head. it's a couple yrs old. none of the cutters are oriented as Elman has shown. even so, the outermost cutter extends out far enough that edge cut coverage is provided. (i...
oddly, i just ran into something similar during a shop clean-up. i must have had 7 stick gauges and a couple of dial gauges, plus a nicer dual chuck inflator. since i needed to air up the dump...
stunning analysis. being unworthy, i will now put down the chisel and return to my lowly software career ...
mike- i'm a WORM guy these days (Write Once in a while, Read More), but enjoying the updates/progress ... this is gonna be a great space. one question - why the blueboard in (what looks like) the...

most 2 cycle engines require 89. local dealer told me 87 "burns up 2 cycle engines" ... and the saw manuals call specifically for 89. a nice stihl saw of mine lost an engine due to...
thx for the link jim. have a G0453 (15") which was used to process the 10/4 board (above).
after a few test runs today, plan is to remove charred ends, put an edge on both sides (removing all...
thx all for the info/links. this is a pretty joint (IMO); i'd like to try a couple at some point ... but the originals, not the router jig. part of the attraction is the very sharp cut line at the...
phil-no way of measuring moisture (yet - but thinking i need to invest in something ...).
rich (etal)- believe it or not, there is NO burned smell in that surfaced piece. it sat in the shop...
In April I took down a walnut tree and milled it to produce around 450 bdft of really nice lumber. Stacked and stickered in a local's barn ... which burned to the ground the next day. :( The wood...
In cleaning out an old barn for demolition, I found a couple of drawers from what was described as an "antique barber's stand". Most of the thing was ruined, but the drawer detail here is something...
Matt- have you seen this link in here?

Matt- if Jeff's pic in #13 is what you have, that's what we call "hornets".
The nests have a main entrance on the bottom, but there are also a couple of alternate escape routes, and they WILL...
