Did you even look at his drawings? There is no diagonal tipping the cabinets up into the space?
The point is the bottom of the post (which wicks up water) has a chance to remain dry. It just creates a bit of a well below the post to give the water a chance to absorb into the soil (no different...
Techniqe when sanding is everything. Dont ignore yourself being a major part of the problem
If you had taken the time to look at his drawing he has a small base below. Putting cabs tight to the ceiling in his proposed situation is gravy.
Impossible wood brick? :D
Good lord. No idea what do do with them but where in holy heck did you find square trees?!?!? Ive never seen anything like that. Cookies would be junk to me but I dont blame you for trying to do...
Pauls advice is spot on. Set the scribe up there or a straight edge and light razor knife score the stipple and scrape it off behind the face of the cabs if you really want to be fussy. Then caulk it...
In my world its just the opposite. It USE TO BE that all pressure treated was the same. PERIOD. When the nightmare of people improperly disposing of CCA treated lumber (burning it or burying it) left...

Just drop your cabs a hair further and put a scribe up there. Whether or not you need the scribe is what it is but just leave yourself an inch or so at the top to attach a scribe to the cabs.
Yep, agreed fully on the lag of expansion/contraction with rock solid encapsulation. Bonus as well is as you already mentioned in your reply HVAC etc... That said, I dont know many homes other than...
It'd seem any number of factors could have affected why some of the posts rotted and where as opposed to others. Issues with the lumber, knots, grain, hard/soft, how the grain was running in a area...
Roberts has always been our approach. Blind dowel holes from the bottom (unless you want to see the dowels from the top). Fixed center, elongated holes outbound. BE AWARE to tell your customer that...
It would be interesting to see what would happen to a 10' perpendicular grain top fully encapsulated. I honestly still have zero faith in these large/wide encapsulated wood tops. I dont care how...
Most large heavy resaws run the blades straight on the wheels. Too much load on the blade for tires.
The hoses on all these sanders are the same 1 1/4" LH corrugated hose. Not sure how much smaller/slinkier any hose can get. We have all the sanders with dedicated hoses right to the vacs. No one...
post #34, WV. Agreed with your overall experience. Get a few cantankerous individuals and some that think they own the place but Ive always been able to get along with the devil himself. Country folk...
This is very similar to what we deal with here. NY/NJ, pretty much anywhere, comes here and have this overwhelming feeling to "enlighten the locals" to locks and bagels, and fine food, and what ever,...
I feel your pain. I moved to the woods 20+ years ago (WV) for privacy, quiet, peace of mind, slower pace (failed miserably at the slower pace), hour to anything (pretty much an hour to nothing...
Seems a lot of posts you read speak to people doing pretty precise layouts pre-glue-up I guess to get clamps to an opening that is close with enough slack for getting parts together and what I would...
Pay attention to the "cumbersome" posts. Im not trying to pile on to a viewpoint that supports my feeling on these clamps but literally a dozen people working with clamps through the shop over the...
If your wanting to make it yourself as simply as possible, build a form and wrap it with 2-3 layers of bending ply. Lots of glue and ratchet straps.
Most finishes (commercial finishes) that I know of dont give perm ratings though I'd imagine in situations like flooring and heavy industrial/aerospace maybe would. Any film finish is going to dampen...
Stick with your routine of avoiding parallels. Trust me. You got in on a super cheap barrier to entry. Populate your shop with clamps you can buy as economically as possible (so you have 3-4 for...
