I usually take the dowel route. Let it dry overnight after gluing, then redrill. You can touchup the finish before attaching the button, if need be.
Cheers,
As many know, Sitka spruce has one of the highest stiffness to weight ratios of any wood on the planet. One that I know is usually higher is Port Orford cedar (actually not a cedar but a true...
Hey John,
Thanks much! I haven't been on this forum for a while, but I thought I'd see what's been going since my last visit. I'll be by now and again.
Cheers,
Guitars should be kept in cases when not being played. Problem is - most of us like to look at them, so we leave them out! ;)

You know you could just buff it out. I wouldn't paint it with any auto paint. The lacquer that it's wearing is just fine, unless the color really bothers you. Best of luck!
Cheers,
Mike,
It really doesn't matter what gun you use if you're going to wet-sand and buff the finish. I've got 4 or 5 guns: one for trans colors and shading; 1 for solid (opaque) paints; one for gold...
Miter boxes are for making picture frames. If you really want accuracy, get the power slotting saw setup from LMI. I have a dedicated Atlas table saw (early '40's all cast iron construction) with a...
I've bought 10 gal. of the Seagrave L3651 and can report that it is identical to McFadden's formula. The nice thing is that Segrave's is cheaper by about $6/gal!!
Cheers,
That's where I was going to go.........:D

Cutting corners is a good tip. Another is to install with the gate sliding downward so that dust has a chance to fall out of the corners and into the blast path.

A carved top Les Paul is 2 3/8" thick at the thickest part (bridge). It is comprised of a 5/8" maple top and 1 3/4" mahogany back. At the edges it's about 1 15/16" thick. Les Paul Juniors and...
$55/hour.

Aluminum can surely be chrome plated. After it's plated with copper and nickel, first.

Michael, Dewey,
Thanks! Very small, as in "I'm Briggs Guitars!"
Cheers,
Michael,
After 6 months of use, I haven't washed it yet - I just blow it out with compressed air. So far has held up.
Cheers,
I have. Bought some from the Borg and they wouldn't fit. Slighty (about 1/8"-1/4" too wide) bigger.
I ended up buying an electrostatic washable filter from Amazon. Glad I did! I think it was under...
I'd be afraid of burning with the high speed of the Steel City sander. 1800 is much safer with hardwoods, especially maples.
Cheers,
Grizzly's CS is tops with me, as well.
A few months ago I had ordered a heavy rack set to put my lumber on. I noted "Residential Delivery" on the form, but when the driver called to make...
This is one instance where I'd vote for CNC. Don't buy a machine, hire out for the work.
A shaper and custom cutter seems to make sense but your stock would have to be absolutely square, flat and...
Bingo! This is the correct answer.
Kiln drying causes a collapse of the cell walls, inhibiting the rehydration of the cells at later time. Air dried lumber's cell walls are intact, retaining it's...
Erik,
The 3HP Grizzly (G1026) doesn't come with 1 1/4" spindle. 1/2", 3/4" and 1" are it's capacities.
For my needs I bought a G1035 1 1/2HP with a 3/4" spindle. I use this exclusively for...
Paul,
Hopefully it makes chips! (Chiplets?)
That's the unit I'm looking at so I'll be watching this thread to get your review. Enjoy!

Ace Hardware cloth carpet tape. I've been using it for over a decade to template rout parts. Make sure to get the cloth type, not fiberglass. Cheap but very tenacious grip.
