Indeed a bad control card- laser power supply trigger from control card locked in "ON" position.

I pulled the laser control connector (CN6) from the RDLC320A control card and the problem went away. It appears that the laser trigger signal is stuck on the "on" level.
Will change the control card...
Changed the power supply- still have same problem

Bought a Shenhui twin 80 watt 1580 eight years ago for total of $9300 of which $2600 was for shipping/clearance by freight forwarder. One original tube still going and 2nd tube replaced two years...
Engrave it with a Co2 but slower than usual to insure the letters are deeper. Then fill with Elmer's white wood filler-let dry and wipe of excess.

Most critical thing when engraving photos is to make sure your photo resolution matches your scan gap- and DO NOT resize your image after processing.
I use Photoshop to set the image size...
