I'll be there. Love this show, I've been to the last two as well. Looking forward to some fancy caramel corn and smoked meats too.

They didn't seem to have any factory second planes this year, unless they sold out quick and were removed from the list.
I made this table as a birthday gift for my sister. Walnut slab top with lots of hard maple butterflies / dovetail keys. Finished with danish oil, shellac, and thinned arm-r-seal mid-satin. I was...
Anyone know if Handworks 2020 is still happening on schedule with the COVID situation? Trying to figure out if I should book a flight while they're cheap now.
I bought a keen kutter KK19 block plane at the local tool club for all of $2 last weekend. It had a cracked cheek and missing knob, but I wanted to try mig welding it back together so I gave it a...
Japanese laminated chisels/plane blades are usually tempered to a ridiculously hard rockwell (RC 65 or more, compared to a knife/western plane blade at about RC 60). I think their sharpening...
I imagine short carpet would be much nicer to stand on, and with a neander shop the cleanup would just be a quick vac job.
Oscar, that looks like a really nice setup. Seems to have everything you would need.
Oskar, those planes and saws look amazing. Is hornbeam hard to work?
The body of this one is actually all cast iron, like a stanley plane but with thicker sidewalls. It would be neat to have a dovetailed steel plane though. I think they typically used mild steel.

I bought my first infill plane at a local tool auction a few months ago. I had to do a lot of work on the tote, and spent hours...
I've also used wood owl and love them. I bought a 3/4 bit for my workbench dog holes and it worked flawlessly. Mine are drilled 90 deg to the surface, no lean, though I do angle the faces of my...
It's neat seeing some inside pics. Rob, do you have a video showing any of the production process (that would be a great episode of How it's Made)?
I have the LN 7 1/2 low angle jointer and it is amazing for edge jointing.
Absurd price as usual, but at least these don't seem to be made of cast iron like the silly holdfasts. Machining looks nice. But I think I'll stick with my old pair that cost $5. A divider just...
Highland Woodworking's general-purpose bandsaw blades are diamond sterling. I bought some and they are great.
Laminate like plywood then route out a circle?
I've tried both shooters several times, and own the Veritas. The Veritas shooter at handworks this year was extremely dull when I tried it, and it didn't look like the Lee Valley employees were...
What angle is the blade bedded at? Very nice work and writeup, I'll go through it more thoroughly at home.
Here is a pic from a similar plane I made

It's kind of a mix of random jointer planes I've seen online and a veritas-like toe adjustment mechanism.
Thanks. I started two planes during the Lumberjocks handplane swap. I finished one and sent it to a friend, then got lazy about the one for myself. Finally completed it, and it seems like a good...
Finally finished my adjustable-mouth wood bodied jack plane after about 2 years off and on messing with it. Maple body, jatoba sides/sole, moradillo (pau ferro) tote, purpleheart and mahogany knob....
Derek, which of the pm-v11 blades did you buy? I wasn't aware LV stocked blades that would fit the LN bench planes.
I have an account on imgur that should last as long as this form persists, but you do have to be wary of temporary image hosting (avoid photobucket at all costs).
