Does anyone know how this works? I can't figure it out. I think it might work like the Porter Cable which works from a rubber band. I can't figure where the rubber band would go though. They're not...
Does anyone know how the pad brake works? I thought it had the rubber band like the old Porter Cables but I can't figure where it would hook up.
Does anyone know how these things actually work?...
Does anyone have any experience with these? How do they work? What do you think? Thank you.
Yea they were available. the first one I was aware of was the Porter cable, and it had the same body for the 5" and the 6", I think, only the counter weight was different. that was probably actually...
I think the restor a Finish is the one I used and seems like a good product. There are only a few on the market and one is outrageously priced.
I wonder if it really does dissolve any of the old...
The literature says that it contains mineral oil, solvent, and stain. Mineral oil is apparently an oil that is derived from petroleum.
Hello, does anyone use this and know what it is and how to make your own? This is primarily used for old, antique type furniture. It seems to do a really nice job; I'd never seen it's results till...
Does anybody use this and like it and could you say a little bit about using it. And I am talking about the 100% pure tung oil.
How much do you thin it to apply? I would assume you would thin it...
Zilch, nada, nothing.
How about if I said...Festool! ?
In my experience, you get swirl marks, period. You get rid of swirl marks by sanding out the previous ones with a higher grit. I can't imagine not getting swirl marks at 120 grit.
Congratulations! Sometimes good things happen when we actually use our heads. I know it's rare but it's worth sticking our necks out.
Tried the Abranet, wouldn't give you 10 cents for it. Set it down and went right back to the discs I had. Do have a Porter cable 390 and it is a piece of junk. Although it may be defective (haven't...
Do you run the iron with the steam on? I assume so.
Does it have to be on bare wood?
I would assume that too, but...
Has anyone done scratch type grooves, maybe 4" long?
The lacquer doesn't dissolve the shellac?
I recently used a 5" Dewalt ROS. The one I usually use (mine) is a variable speed Dewalt. It seemed to me that the single speed which was borrowed had noticeably more power than mine. In fact it...
Does the iron and towel technique have to be on wood bare of finish for it to work? Thanks.
These aren't actually scratches per say but sort of grooves. There is no actual break in the finish (or scratch). They are in cherry panel and frame wall paneling in a stairway on a yacht. There are...
Anybody in Hollywood or Coconut Grove, Florida? I think I have two quarts of this crap I'd give you. Sorry for the harsh opinion, but that's what I think. Get in touch with me and you can have it. I...
New Post: Porter Cable 390 Sale marked as moved and I can't access it or find why it was moved. Why? Please.
Apparently it's a tropical hardwood, some say very hard, so it would take very well to a penetrating oil finish, if you haven't done it yet. You put it on as much as it will take soaking it in and...
How many shades and where can you get it? Thank you.
So it doesn't really make much difference. Use some liquid paint stripper like Kwik or whatever, you don't need something real strong. It is very unlikely shellac, but of course you could try some...
Teak Trim Piece 10" wide by about 25'long
Teak Chairs - folding, used w/ cusihons, seat and backs
These are on a large yacht I've been taking care of for a number of years. Varnish is out as they...
Primers are harder to get a smooth finish out of than finish paints, they don't level near as well.
But...if you use say pigmented shellac (BIN by Zinsser I think), you could get your coats built...
