+1 for Klingspor
vblock, hot glue is the easiest. If you don't have a hot glue gun you can try some 100 grit sandpaper on the vblock. Handsaw works best for me.
I currently have an LT14 3000 series from Laguna and I'm very happy with it. I've owned bandsaws from Grizzly in the past and they were very good as well. I find my current saw to be better than the...
The citrus degreasers (like goof off) work great, don't smell bad and leave a light oil on the tool. They are also friendly to the environment if you care about such things.
Go the festool route. More and more, my table saw is an assembly table and the place my router table is hooked to.
In addition buy some good hand planes. Start with a low angle jack and a block...
I order all my sandpaper from these guys: http://www.woodworkingshop.com/ I think you can order a pre-cut belt from them and then buy a roll. Make a paper template in case your belt breaks.
Grizzly does have a 3hp 15" wide belt sander for $2k shipped. I have no idea how well it works but I would probably consider it if I couldn't find a good deal on a woodmaster at your budget.
Dan,
Does the wood smell sort of like roses? If so its a true rosewood - probably either brazilian or indian. Bolivian rosewood smells more like walnut does when you cut it.
Dude, I think they even sell the freezer.
Ed, personally I think it COULD sand something 36" wide but only if it was 2' or shorter. You would need so much infeed/outfeed support for anything heavy it wouldn't be worth it. I think I'd just go...
Craig, I suggest you stick your credit cards in some water and put them in the freezer now. You have been warned.:D
Didn't you see the USN Retired part? He probably mops the floor too!
Nice one David!
Aaron, how serious are you about building furniture? Can you think of 5 or 6 projects right now that you want to build? If so, have you thought about style? What pieces etc?
I ask this because I...
Aaron,
What do you want to build and what tools do you have? A TS may not be the next thing you need. I know many people think the TS is the heart of the shop but most things done on a TS can be...
You know Cary, with the exception of the spring issue I'm pretty happy with the build quality of the tool so maybe I'm setting my expectations low.
What I just realized is I posted the original 3...
IF its the Exacta Deluxe its equal to the Griz with a little better warranty IMO. Based on what I've owned and used in other's shops I don't believe Jet makes anything that BETTER than Griz - I...
Ed,
I had forgotten I posted that! I actually ordered the G0458 a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately I had a problem with it right away. After changing the paper the spring on the right side of...
Amazon is a good place for them. Look into their "Prime" program if you order a lot from them. Free 2-day shipping and $3.99 on next day shipping on all eligible orders. I think I pay $75 / year for...
The porter cable dust extractor works as well as the Fein but is a bit cheaper. The bags are quite a bit cheaper IIRC. Its pretty noisy though.
Brian, if you have the room buy it. Worst case you don't use it and you have to sell it for more than what you paid.
I save my dull jigsaw blades to grind for marking knives.
Bob, call your local supplier and see what they have for cheap. Recently I bought a pallet full of cherry at $2.00/bf because they were short (6') and had a lot of light or mixed boards. I have been...
Have you asked them if you could enter it?
I'm pretty sure its the exact same saw just built in a different factory. Not sure why they changed but I'm guessing they got a better deal from another tool maker...
