Allen, I bought the Grex you are talking about. I power sand my bowls like most. When you reverse the lathe between grits, the grex oscillating just runs it whatever direction the motor is running....
If I remember right on that lathe you need to undo the cover at the readout for the rpm's. Make sure the lathe is unplugged and then you can tighten the other set screw. It will be on the left side...
Scott is right. They announced Saturday during the banquet thay Atlanta will be the 2016 host city. I look forward to seeing it again.
I will be there. I have two booths and will be one of the vendors selling wood.
I think the extra powered tool on the same outlet would depend on the circuit being a 15 or 20 amp breaker, and the appropriate sized wire.
Those tools were meant to be used. I have a few in my collection and they preform really good. Enjoy!
I'm not sure about the older tools, but that was a heck of a deal on the tools. Congrats on the new tools.
Jason, I'm a little confused as to the bent cast iron comment. I bought a 4224b right after they came out. I have turned on it for close to a year now with no issues at all. I have a local friend...
Looks good Bill. That bowl has some crazy grain.
A friend has the oneway and I have the 3520 and 4224b. He wants to bring the oneway to my shop so he can use my lathes. The different MT are a pain on the oneway, and as mentioned before the reset...
I have turnre 2 pen with the snakwood. Both of them split. I turned a lidded box out of mahogany and did a snakewood incert in the top. All of the projects has a CA finish, but the box is still...
Very cool toy Mike. I like doing functional projects. Well done, and how was the book?
It also needs to come to a sharp point. If you round it off it will tend to run off. Also if you need a stable wood, I made some out of spectra-ply that were very well ballanced. The kid I intended...
Thanks for all the comments.
Scott I would HIGHLY recommend a trip out to Jimmy's. He is a great host and an incredible teacher. You won't be disappointed. I would recommend going during the...
I took a class with Jimmy Clewes several weeks ago. After leaving I thought about what I had taken away from the class. The biggest thing that I need to work on is challenging myself so as not to get...
If you are planning on driving through Atlanta you might want to drop in Highland Hardware. It is a fun trip through the candy store.
Bill, the one on the left is the closest to the correct proportion. I think it could stand to be a little taller. Maybe by as much as several inches. Just my .02.
Great save Bill. One small problem. Me, you, and Jimmy are the only ones that know what the first turning looked like. Your design opportunity worked so well nobody would have ever known... great...
Oh well Bill! At least it was you that let the secret out! It was a great trip and WE had a great time. Jimmy has a great teaching style, and I would recommend anyone take a class from him. The best...
I had the pleasure of taking a 3 day hands on class with fellow creeker Bill Donahue at Jimmy Clewes workshop. We studied winged bowls, dying wood, and other texturing processes. If you ever have a...
Your going to make a lot of kids happy with those! Good job.
I have not been in the shop much lately due to a broke bone spur in my foot. I have been getting around better in the last couple weeks. I returned this one after church yesterday. It is 15 1/2" wide...
I had both for a while. I turned a lot more on the PM just because the extra weight let you turn out of balance pieces at a higher speed. The Jet for sold for the new PM 4224b otherwise I would still...
Well done Jeff. That is going to make a great table. I got a deal on a big saw and put a 42 inch bar on it. You need to be fully rested to run that BEAST.
