I would love to do it with no supports but I haven't seen any costs on the Spancrete yet. I'll have to see what the budget will allow.
That's something I really like about the closed cell foam, the stiffer frame. It really "glues" everything together. My basement floor is partially sprayed the this foam (we were doing it for a...
I'll look for that issue Jerry. Thank you - if I can't find it, I'll take you up on that offer.

Thanks Brian. That's why I'm asking here... lot's of experience and common sense! Did he put radiant heat in his floor and if he did, what kind of insulation did he use?
If I go with conventional framing (which I'm leaning towards), I was planning on dense pack cellulose. If I have sheet insulation on the outside, does it go under or over the OSB? I'm thinking over...
We've found ourselves needing to move so we need to build a new house. I've said for a long time, "If I ever build another house, I'll build to the roof with ICF's". This would be basement and...
The barn at my late parents property (which I have inherited) is in need of repair. Actually, it's the foundation that is bad. I don't have the time, money or desire to fix it but hate to see it...
You did Steve, you did! :) I didn't mean to ignore that but I guess my last post did. Thanks for your input. Do have the Grizzly sander?
Bryan
Scott,
That makes sense. I apply coats until I get the look I want which is usually 4 or 5 but I have went to 6 coats before. I haven't used it for any chairs or table tops but will keep your...
I missed a good deal on an 18 inch sander about 5 years ago. Sander with 100 belts went for $900. Really don't want to wait around to see if I can find another deal like that.
I don't size is...
I like applying Waterlox with blue "heavy duty for the shop" paper towels ( I bought them from Sherwin Williams) or a cloth. 4 or 5 very thin coats. No brush marks - ever.

Need some help here guys! I'm looking at buying a wide belt sander but not sure which one I should buy. My 2 choices are both Grizzly machines, one is the G9983 15" open end for $3300 and the other...
I like to put enough glue in one side to get good squeeze out when the dowel is bottomed out. I then use a small brush and apply glue to rest of the dowel.

Thanks for posting this George and I'm glad it wasn't worse. Reminders like this are good for everyone. Hope you heal quickly!

Pretty! I don't think you'll have trouble getting his help again!

Well okay then, this opens up some new questions.
Is an 18 inch closed-end belt sander worth the extra money over a like size open ended sander? I realize with the open ended sander you can sand...
Is the belt sander worth the extra money? I want to: 1. rough sand planer marks out of boards. 2. thickness sand hard to plane woods like maple and hickory. Which sander would I be happiest with?...
It depends on the wood for me. If it's a species that tends to pick alot like hard maple or hickory, If I get a good side then I'll leave it alone. If it's pine, oak or cherry, I'll flip the boards...
Count me in.

Gene,
Some of the most beautiful hickory is the rustic grade with all the knot holes and color variations. Unfortunately, they don't make hickory sheet goods with that grade and end up with very...
I would have bought it but they only had one. I mean, I'd have to have one to practice on... :D
Sanding a few nights ago with my Bosch RA sander and it cuts out (no power) a couple of times (I thought it might be the cord) and then it finally quit. Dead. Darn it all because I really wanted to...
I wouldn't say that was foolish. I'd say she must have been good looking! :D

Well, after thinking this over I'm going to take Jamie's advice and route the pulls directly into the drawer fronts.
My drawers are 3/4 solid pine - all 4 sides. I'll *fix* the thickness problem...
