Personally I would proceed as normal and just fill enough of those holes in the bottom to assist with vacuum chucking during finish turning, IF they indeed turn out to be through and through holes.
Decent enough of a save. But if you are leaving a nub, center bottom, while hollowing then whatever bit you are using in that area is not dead nuts center.
Well I would start with what you are calling "the same dumb mistakes". As you look at this piece what are you seeing as a repeat mistake? There is nothing wrong with the shape as long as this is...
I run two old upright freezers for drying rough outs. Incandescent 150w bulb plus fan. I use this dimmer switch, link below, which allows me to change the output of the bulb without opening the...
In the warmer weather, when I wear shorts when I turn, I use these:

Ken, your friend and my friend have much in common. Yesterday mine told me that he CA glued his wedding ring to his finger. I told him to go get some nail polish remover from his wife and that...
I remove the bit's from the shaft and simply hold them flat down on the platform on my vari grind jig. Set the angle, one rotation, and done. No jig needed.
I saturate my "user" bowls as you do. Usually two coats 24 hours apart. I go through a lot of walnut oil and used to get the Mahoneys. But his product had gotten too dark in color for me. I mine...
You will love the new grinder, and wheels of course. But you may as well just pull the bulb out of that light as it pretty useless.
Mark is a great teacher but a better person. Looks like nice visit.
Nicely done Steve. That should be a fairly easy sell.
Recently, past two years, I've used both the Timberwolf AS blades and the Lennox Die Master II blades. Both 1/2", 3 tpi. I too use them for thick, green blanks. For me they both cut fine but the...
Little late to see this but never too late to pray for you both.
Try saving a copy of each pic before you manipulate for thst very reason.
Nicely done Roger. The curve looks spot on though I really hesitate to say that without actually holding the piece in my own hands. Not sure what you are using to manipulate your photos but with...
Roger, I pretty much buff all of my turnings, the ones that aren't straight utilitarian anyway. I start with the tripoli then move to white diamond. I don't use the carnuba at all. I run the lathe...
John, yes you need to do a bit more research. What you are describing is a commerce site. One in which you can sell your wares. I don't know of ANY commerce sites that are free. Not saying that...
That's awesome news Brian. Continued good thoughts to your daughter and the rest of your family.
Mark, these are what I wear.

+1 on the Merrell Jungle Moc's. I've been wearing the same pair pretty much every day for the last two years. I'm in my shop every day doing something, mostly turning, and I love these things. ...
Mine were mounted on steel poles after being taken down from the roof. Both the TV and Internet dishes were moved and mounted at no charge by the company.
I can probably guess Roger. And I'm feeling well enough now that I can probably help load you up too.
Well Roger you certainly took a very different road than I would have. Mine would have been sent back for a new set that would hopefully be better spec'd.
If you need more cherry burl you know...
