Hi Ricc,
I've set up an Etsy shop, and I think it's probably about like other ventures: What you get out of it depends on what you put into it.
As near as I can tell, You need to have a few...
I thought turners elbow was a permanent hole in the right elbow from forgetting the live center was in the tailstock. Again.
I'd like to be in on this one as well.
I've used a story stick, calipers, and cutout templates. The best thing I can say is if you need 10 the same make 13 and pick the 10 closest.
Outstanding work. I like the over-engineering. That way it holds up to multiple generations.
You are welcome to stop by my place! I'll send you home with some apple or walnut or black locust or something.
In 2001, My wife and I lost a newborn daughter. Definitely the toughest period in our lives. One of the memorial gifts we were given was a flowering pear tree. Three years later, it was time to...
That is beautiful. Great wood and well executed.
It's a blotter commissioned, but never picked up, by an artist specializing in calligraphy inside bowls. :)
+1 on Wally. He is a treasure to our art/craft.
+1 on love the feet!
I've sold a couple hundred stoppers. Almost all are done with CA. Only one has come back marred. It was put in the dishwasher! But, I also use spray on polycrylic, and sometimes tung oil. ...
I've turned a fair amount of Bush Honeysuckle. It's an invasive, so I kill a lot of it. But the wood is wonderful to turn green. Dry it's a little soft for my taste. But then I like honeylocust...

I found myself "obsessing" over pictures I'd posted here, so I had stopped posting. But I thought I'd like to share this one, because I've not seen another like it.
The inspiration came as I was...
Wish I'd thought of that. Amazing and well done.
<jealous>Congratulations! I'm sure you'll love it.</jealous>
Wally,
I read your posts with great enthusiasm. I think you've forgotten more about turning than I'll ever know. Thanks for sharing this.

Wait until you check your shop vac
The relationship between my height and my lathe centers is rocky. They haven't been speaking. But you can't trust my lathe when it's been drinking...
I love this place. I needed to overhaul/clean my SN2. I've been putting it off. Now I find this thread and the link to that video. Perfect. Job was done relatively easily.
Thanks all!
It's a great ring, sure doesn't need bling. But if you're going to add some, definitely go with the epoxy.
Keep them as close to flush with the surface of the wood as possible. Rings take a lot...
Looks like you've mastered that one!
Thanks, Dan. I assume you knocked out the medallion to insert the custom finial. Is that correct?
