I would make a jig/fence that was at a 45 degree angle and cut them on a bandsaw. By holding the 4x4x4 piece against the fence they should be on the diagnal for cutting. Paul

I use Bessey Tradesman clamps to clamp stuff to my table saw. The adjustable pad fits right up into the insets on the bottom of the extension. Paul
I typically will use epoxy for oily woods. I am sure that PVA glue will work most of the time, but I have never had a problem using epoxy. I have heard that PVA just won't work with some oily woods,...
I have purchased a fair amount of different exotic species from these guys. Nice people to deal with and their prices are good. While 12-15 bf can most likely ship via UPS, they are a bit far from...
I assume that you don't want to go with wlanut for the legs. If so I would consider figured maple. Paul
I've always liked Walnut and Paduk and really disliked zebrawood and spanish cedar. Paul
Seems like a lot to me. For 1300 you could buy yourself another cabinet table saw and use the saw as you table. Keep your dada blade set up in the saw so when you need it, your work table becomes a...
That is amazing.... Paul
A truck with a liftgate and a few friends is all you really need. If you are going from one garage to another, it is simply a matter of getting the truck as close as you can. It would be a one day...
Byron, If what you want to do is to put a bevel on the edge of your drawer fronts with your table saw, but have the edge of the cut leave a perpendicular cut to the face of the drawer. I woud...
Lynn,
I own a Jet mortiser, but I inherited a Reliant recently. With good chisels either will work just fine. I'm not sure if the Delta chisels are as long as standard mortiser chisels, but if...
I bought an engine hoist a few years back. It as become essential for moving tools, as well as hleping me put big pieces of wood on my lathe.

If Cypress is unavailable I would recommend white cedar or white oak. White cedar has been a traditional wood that many chairs made in the Adirondaks have been made of. Ihave made several out of...

Jerry, Even with very good dust collection some sawdust is going to become airborn. Sanding something always seesm to generate some that doesn't get sucked up. The fine stuff that coats the floor...
You might consider some sort of drop down cloth to close off the area to some extent when you need it dust free. Something similar to pull down window shades. They will be out of the way when no...
Stanley,
I often use the same technique that you are describing and here are a couple of my observations with myself. (1) In order to get the "center" the diagnals have to come exactly off the...
Doug,
My shop is in the basement as well, has been for a number of years. Despite not having a walk out I have managed to get a Delta cabinet saw, a 3 hp dust collector, PwerMatic 3520 lathe,...
I recentely bought out a shop from a woodworker hoobiest, but he had a lot of tools so I'm in a similar situation. I need to decide what to keep and what to sell. It's a real ambarassment of...
I did what Terry did. Just bought a metal one. It hasn't warped yet.

I've got the Incra 3000 and pretty much bought it to do segmented turnings. Dead on accurate miters are essential for the segments to look correct. The more segments per ring, the more accurate you...
Dale,
I agree about avoiding the plastic. A tarp and wax should hold you over through the Summer. I live in the New North end of Burlington myself so if you want to box it right up you can use...
I'm with the "old" guys. Not that I consider myself old. But I generally use the seat of the pants design method. I sketch designs on pretty much anything. Once had a design for an end table,...
