A cyclone certainly separates better, but the need for it is negated by venting outside. There will be no appreciable evidence of dust/chips outside if using a baffle.
All of their hand tools, including sockets, are made in China, HF quality junk. I would actually go out on a limb and say HF Pro sockets are better.
Glad I bought mine 20+ years ago.
If you are venting outside the baffle will suit you just fine. You may enjoy building it. The necessity of a cyclone is really if you are using filters - you will need to clean them less often.
For the materials and craftsmanship it is definitely worth the money. I could see buying it if used frequently or for income. Not to mention no one has come up with a commercial version of this that...
What Glen said. My top is two layers of 3/4" MDF glued together. It is 6 years old with a lift and big PC router in it. No issues at all. I did, however, poly it. I would not hesitate to just oil and...
It has been several years since I bought a Timberwolf blade. I tried 3 and all had bad welds. Have not bought one since. Glad to see they have hopefully gotten better because they stay sharp. I still...
The Bench Dog used to be cast iron.
Sounds great Doug. Get back to me at your leisure.
You can also go to electrical isle and pick up the grey PVC conduit long sweep.
Just to ease the confusion, Incra does not make a lift. Incra modifies the Woodpeckers PRLv2 and the Jessem Mast-R-Lift II with their own insert plate and magnetic reducer rings. The lifts, or"guts"...
I stand corrected - it is 10". But the Rikon (or others) should still work.
Tim,
Here is a link to one of several threads:...
I am able to source bearings locally. Is there any way to order the cutterhead as a standalone part?
The 12" impeller was from Rikon. Their 2HP DC is the identical unit from HF - other than paint and the impeller (which is 9" on the HF IIRRC).
When I had the HF unit I was thinking about the SDD...
Greg,
Don't worry about the '5 cut' method - use that as a test once set up.
I have a Dewalt slider on my Grizzly TS. The set up should be no different. First, left miter needs to be parallel...
Doug,
Is there any way to purchase the cutter head separately?
It was probably either Phil Thien or Bill Hubbard.
I think the light is a plus. At least it is not on the other side of the frame like on my Rikon.
As I stated earlier, the Milwaukee 18V Fuel (brushless) works wonderful for woodworking. It has 3 speeds and is lighter than the 12V brushed impact when both have the batteries removed. With the...
The Bosch and Dewalt 12V are both great - can't go wrong with either. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the weight of the new 18V Milwakee Fuel impact. Fitted with the compact battery it is...
Rocker sells the Jessem Mast r lift II that will fit the bench dog table. It is the Incra version with the magnetic inserts.
Clayton,
I was in the same boat as you this time last year: Grizzly 3hp vs CV. For the record I went with the CV primarily for the Leeson motor. At the time the Grizzly was on sale for $200 off. ...
I have the single speed model with an out the door price of less than $16. I have had it for almost 3 years without s single complaint. When it breaks I will be getting the same thing. HF has its...
Bob,
First, I believe the Excel II is a package deal that includes the phenolic table. I do not think Jessem sells the items separately - the lift is built into the table. If you got the package...
Add to the list: Clausing, Atlas, Walker-Turner and Rockwell (same as Delta) or newer General 340 series (15"). Pretty much any old US made drill press (and the Canadian made General) in the 17" size...
