building frameless with prefinished plywood will save you an enormous amount of time in finishing and assembly. most people own face frame kitchen cabinets so frameless cabinets are actually somewhat...
i use the kreg only for building jigs and stuff that doesn't need to be spot-on accurate. i use the PC pocket drilling machine for everything else and have noted a marked improvement in accuracy of...
mike, that looks like a professional job. how long did it take to do all those doors and drawer fronts? did you have a drum sander? really impressed that you made all those cuts with the track saw!
use extension supports on either side so the piece doesn't drop to the ground
great to hear! that makes two happy campers :)
you will not regret your efforts in obtaining this wonderful machine! ever since i got one of these off of craigslist a few years ago, my joints are actually flush now without going through excessive...
those are quite massive drawer fronts! can totally understand the extra screws in that type of a situation. btw what are they putting in drawers that wide?
so you still need extra screws through the inside of the drawer box? i was thinking that the handle or pull would be enough.
the blum drawer adjusters are placed in holes that allow a little play although you have to drill them on both the drawer front and the box and the surface has little bumps on it to allow some...
i use mainly tandemboxes from blum but in the future if i were to build a cabinet with false drawer fronts, i would use the drawer front adjusters as previously mentioned. hot glue and some shims...
i hate shelf liners as well although i'll bet my wife will stick them in everywhere once i rebuild the kitchen...
i usually flush the top of the lower rail to the edge of the cabinet bottom so that you can slide stuff out over the rail without having to lift it. i shoot for 4" clearance underneath the cabinet...
trevor, just looked more carefully at the cabinets and realized that they were beaded! what technique did you use?
back when i was in my hand tools phase, i really tried hard to cut mortise and tenons by hand but after spending half a year in vain, i decided life was too short to spend sanding everything down by...
nice upgrade!
the center is raised compared to the sides but you're right semantically.
hilarious... great tip by JR though if you feel like getting out the blowgun.
congratulations! time to remodel the kitchen :)
oh that's nifty! how do you make them? what do you play - lead or rhythm?
i'm going to take much greater pains in the future to make sure that the jamb extensions are as square as possible next time to avoid all the trimming. ever consider becoming a manufacturer? lol...
looks great, dave! did you have to do any additional trimming to get the shutter to fit the opening? i'm toying with the idea of building the frame and the shutter together simultaneously next time...
richard, have you figured out which fastening method you'll use? the hidden fasteners look great but almost all of them take a lot more time than face screwing. i used deck master undermounted...
another thanks from someone who'll probably never make it out there!
i hope no one else tries that...
